Yesterday commemorated the end of my holiday break, which was spent partly in Toronto and the rest of the time at my chalet in Quebec with both Mum and Dad’s side of the family together – and not to forget my little brother Oakley!
We were rewarded with a huge dump of snow right before we arrived, so that made for some fun adventures. Yet we were also given some very cold days, which made for a couple frozen and grumpy wieners.
On those cold days Oakley and I had to find ways to keep ourselves occupied. One of those times involved an intense game of chess.
Usually I would go easy on the guy, but I decided not to hold back on this match considering Oakley destroyed a couple of my new Christmas toys. So this was my redemption, and I thought I did pretty well as I didn’t even have my Thinking Glasses with me.
Here’s Oakley attempting to make a comeback by moving his pawn.
I’ll give the guy his dues though – he made a whole-hearted effort.
As the game approached the end, I couldn’t help but display my, ‘I know I’m going to win’ look.
But don’t be fooled! Oakley later won a game of Scrabble with the family while I was busy taking one of my beauty naps (I need a lot to stay this beautiful).
Yesterday was also New Year’s Eve, and Mum and Dad’s families got together for a nice little party where Oakley and I were the stars, of course.
And what better way to celebrate than with a nice glass of bubbly! I posted this picture on my Facebook page yesterday and asked people if they would trust their dog to hold a glass like this. Just about everyone answered ‘no’, but there’s something I didn’t tell you.
Right after this photo was taken I spilled it all over myself and the chair. Mum was not very happy with Dad for that one. However, the main difference is that it wasn’t because I was ‘incapable’ of holding it – it’s just because I had already had a few too many…
Heck, I know it’s not very flattering but here’s what I looked like at the end of the night.
Now if you read my Dachshund Christmas post, you’ll also know that I received an awesome GoPro, which is a high quality, high-action video/photo camera. It took Dad a few days to put together the rig that attaches to my jacket to which the camera can be clipped on, but once he did, I was happy to sport the all new ‘CrusoeCam’.
I didn’t get ample opportunities to use it though – because it seemed the days were always either really overcast with flat light, or too cold for me to want to do much outside.
I did manage to get some decent footage though, so take a look below!
This is just more proof to how snowball-obsessed I am. Mum says I need to see a shrink about that soon but I say hey – it’s better I’m into this white fluffy stuff than the other kind!
That was the first taste of my GoPro, but I’m sure there’s going to be much more good and exciting stuff to come, like bedroom romps.
My fan Janet Rzepinski commented on one of my Facebook posts saying that perhaps I always call Oakley goofy because I feel a slight sense of competition from him.
Now there’s no doubt about it that he’s goofy, but he’s still a good looking and handsome guy. I’d say I’m proud of the guy for having got some of the same family good-looks that I did!
So here’s a nice pic of Oakley where I find his (my) good looks really shine through!
I’m sure we can all agree that Oakley is cute n’ goofy, while I’m handsome, muscular, charming, dashing, sexy, regal, and well, you know the rest..
It’s always great spending time with my bro, and I look forward to the next time I see him! I know he misses me a lot.
Keep the camera rollin’,
